Accessible websites for everyone

We make websites that work with a screen reader, with the keyboard only, with text at 200% and with good contrast: level AA of the WCAG guidelines, the one Ecuadorian regulations require of the public sector and of those who provide public services. We learned it working with federations of people with disabilities.

What the standard requires in Ecuador

The NTE INEN-ISO/IEC 40500 standard adopts the international WCAG 2.0 guidelines in Ecuador, and technical regulation RTE INEN 288 (2016) requires public-sector websites, and private-sector websites that provide public services, to meet level AA since August 2020, with a statement of conformity published on the site itself.

We work with WCAG 2.1 level AA: it includes everything in 2.0 that the standard requires and adds criteria designed for mobile. Even if your website is not required to, making it accessible brings you closer to more people: people with disabilities, older adults and anyone who opens it in bright sunlight or with one hand busy.

How we check it

Every screen goes through automated tests and a manual review: keyboard-only navigation, reading order and what a screen reader announces, text at 200%, dark mode and mobile. We fix what comes up and what was reviewed stays in writing. An automated tool doesn't catch everything: that is why the manual review is never skipped.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most

Ask us on WhatsApp
Is my website required to be accessible?

If your organization, public or private, provides a public service, RTE INEN 288 requires WCAG level AA. If you are not sure, we review it with you on the call (this is guidance, not legal advice).

Can you review and fix my current website?

Yes. We review your website, tell you what fails and send you a written proposal to fix it or rebuild it. Quotes are free.

Does an accessible website look simpler?

No. It can have photos, videos and animations: what changes is that everything has enough contrast and alternative text, works with the keyboard and lets you reduce motion.
